Google goes talking with Google Talk – New IM from Google …!

As the speculations were going for some time, and Google executives even denying it … But the search giant has now stepped into the Instant Messaging field by launching its IM service christened Google Talk .. It was released today without any fanfare … But many people had already tried connecting to their servers talk.Google.com after some details were leaked that its based on Jabber .. So .. Continuing the IM review tradition, here is my review ..
It is indeed based on Jabber / XMPP protocol .. I downloaded the beta and installed it.. The interface is nice and uncluttered is very light on resource usage ..

Yahoo Messenger 7 Final Reviewed

After more than two months of beta testing, Yahoo! has finally released the version 7 of their popular instant messenger client Yahoo Messenger. .As I had already previewed the beta, I was eagerly waiting for the final release .. And I must say, I am not disappointed .. Most of the bugs are eliminated, and a lot of features are added .. So here it goes .. :

New features :

As Voice messaging heats up the IM battles, Yahoo has added the killer feature in YIM too … You can notice the change in the main window as its named as “Yahoo Messenger with Voice” .. A new button for Pc to Pc calling is added in the main window itself ..

MSN Messenger 7.5 Reviewed

Microsoft has just started offering beta testing of its newest version of MSN Messenger to a select few from its Connect service .. But as happens with all beta software, this version was also leaked .. So to follow the tradition, I got my hands on one too … And here is the review of the brand new Messenger…

Whats New in Messenger 7.5 :

First thing that you will notice after installing it is the redesigned Login interface ..

Enabling the Remember Me will show the user’s Display Picture … The remember password option is seperated from remembering username (Remember Me) … There is a combo box that let the user login as “Appear Offline” though you will have to change your status to Online if you want to start conversation with someone ..

Yahoo Messenger 7 Beta Reviewed

Yahoo started offering preview of its new messenger Yahoo Messenger 7 this wednesday. As most of my friends call it Yahell instead of YIM, I was really curious to experience the new offerings .. So here it goes ..

Whats new in YIM 7 :

Apart from a few cosmetic changes, YIM’s newest feature is PC to PC calls .. Now YIM users can make direct pc to pc calls free over the net .. This move is due to increasing userbase of Skype and Hello! services which Yahoo! thinks it can attract .. The quality of voice mail was good indeed on my dialup line ..
The looks are changed a bit too .. Now the messenger shows a pop up description of contacts and most tasks are available in the pop up …
